Safely removing snow and ice from your Trex, Timber Tech or Fiberon decking can seem intimidating at first but here are some tips to clear snow and ice off of your Composite or PVC decking.
Tip #1
Removing snow
Always use plastic and shovel snow down the length of your deck boards. This can prevent most scratching.
- Do not use any metal shovels or plastic shovels with a metal blade. This can leave gouges, scratches and dings in your deck boards.
- Opt for a broom when you can. This is the best option for small amounts of snow.

Tip #2
Ice Build-up
If you find yourself with ice build-up, calcium chloride with no color additives is a safe option to use.
- Never use sodium chloride, this will damage the surfaces of your deck boards, regardless of what material you have.
